Title Summary of Will of William Hewett 1714 Titchfield

Summary of Will of William Hewett 1714 Titchfield

This information has been derived from the Hampshire Burial Index and from the I.G.I. and is borne out by William Hewitt's Will dated 1714. A précis of the Will is as follows:-

He left his beloved wife Mary all his leasehold estate in the parish of Botley with all the lands and appurtenances thereunto belonging.  He left his son John Hewett fifty pounds to be paid him at the age of twenty-one, his daughter Betty Hewett one hundred and fifty pounds to be paid her at the age of twenty-one or day of marriage, his daughter Anne one hundred and fifty pounds to be paid at the age of twenty-one and his daughter White (Mary) twenty shillings.  (N.B. Mary White was my ancestor).  He gave his wife the walnut chest of drawers, table and furniture in his room and a kettle and pot and some drinking vessels and some chairs for furnishing of a room and some dishes of pewter.  All the rest of his goods and chattels after his debts had been paid he gave to his well-beloved son William Hewett, whom he nominated as his sole Executor.  William signed his name and the Will was witnessed by Anne Howard, H.Bayliss and Robert White.  An inventory of his possessions was taken and appraised by John Missing, James Stares and Robert White and valued at £702.8s.

William Hewitt is described as a yeoman of Crofton, Titchfield
