Will of John
Burberry Yeoman Newdigate 1745
In the name of God Amen the seventeenth day of
December one thousand seven hundred and forty five I John Burberry Yeoman in the
Parish of Newdigate in the County of Surrey being sick and weak in body but of
perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling unto Mind the
Mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to dye do
make and ordain this my last Will and Testament.
That is to say Principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into
the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my Body I recommend to the Earth to
be buried in decent Christian Buryal at the discretion of my Trustees nothing
doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the
Almighty Power of God. And as touching such Worldly Estate wherewith it has
pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in
the following manner and form.
First I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Wood the sum of eighty pounds of
Lawfull money to be paid to her within one year next after my Decease by my
Executor hereafter mentioned and all the rest and residue of my Estate of what
Nature or Kind soever after payment of my debts and funeral expenses I hereby
give and bequeath unto my two sons John Burberry and William Burberry whom I
constitute and appoint sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament and
revoking all former wills by me heretofore made I publish this to be my last
Will and Testament.
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above
written. The mark of John Burberry signed sealed published and declared by the
said John Burberry the Testator as his last Will and Testament in the presence
of us who have hereunto set our hands as Witnesses in the presence of the same
Testator and one another.

This Will was proved at London the thirteenth day of February in the year of our
Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty five before the Worshipful Robert
Chapman Doctor of Law surrogate of the Right Worshipful John Bettesworth Doctor
of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury
lawfully
constituted by the oath of John Burberry the son one of the Executors in the
said Will named to who administration was granted of all and singular the Goods
Chattels and Credits of the said deceased being first sworn duly to administer
power reserved of making the life grant to William Burberry the son also of the
said deceased the other
Executor when he shall apply for the same
