Will
of Ephrahim COGGER Brasted |
In the Name of God Amen
this second day of December in the Sixth Year of the Reigne of our
Sovereign Lord King George over Great Brittaine et Annoq Dui 1719 I
Ephrahim Cogger of Basted in the Parish of Wrotham in the county of Kent
Yeoman being at this time sick and weak in body but of a sound and
disposing mind and memory (praised be God for the same) doe make ordaine
and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner following (that is
to say) first and principally I resign my soul to Almighty God who created
it hoping for Salvation thereof by and through the Merritts and
Intercession of Jesus Christ my blessed Saviour and Redeemer and my body I
comit to the Earth to be decently buryed at the discretion of my Executor
hereinafter named and as for such Worldly Goods and Estate as it hath
pleased God to lend me in this World I Will give and dispose thereof as
followeth that is to say Imprimis I Will order and direct that all my
Debts Legacies Funeral Expences and the Charges of the probate of this my
Will be first paid satisfied and discharged. Item I doe give and Devise
unto my Loving Wife Mary Cogger and to her assignes for and during the
Terme of her naturall life all that my Messuage or Tenement with the
Buildings backside orchard and Land and Appurtenances thereunto belonging
now in the occupation of Anne Graves Widow and of me the said Ephrahim
Cogger situate lying and being at Plaxtole in the fair parish of Wrotham
and after her decease I doe give and devise the same Messuage Land and
premises with the appurtenances unto my Son Thomas Cogger and his Heires
and Assignes for ever. Item I
give and Bequeath unto my oldest Son John Cogger one Shilling to be paid
to him on demand by my Executor hereafter named. Item I give and bequeath
unto my said Wife Mary the Furniture of my best Chamber and three pair of
the best Sheets and I give her the sum of Ten Pounds of lawful money to be
paid her by my Executor within Six Months next after my decease.
Item I Will and give more to my said son Thomas Cogger the Sum of
Forty Pounds of lawfull money and I Will and give unto my Daughter Mary
Cogger the Sum of Fifty Pounds of life(?) money which paid severall
Legacies of Forty Pounds and Fifty I Will shall be paid by my executor at
my Son and Daughters respective ages of One and Twenty Years together with
the Interest thereof until that time and I doe hereby make constitute and
appoint my Son Ephrahim Cogger full and Sole Executor of this my last Will
and Testament and for the payment of my Debts and Legacies doe Will and
leave to him all my personall Estate whatsoever and do make him residuary
Legatee and doe hereby revoke all former Wills by me made and do appoint
and declare this to be my last Will and Testament written on one Sheet of
paper. In Witnesse whereof I
have hereunto sett my hand and seal the day and year as first above
written Ephrahim Cogger his mark Signed Sealed published and declared by
the said Ephrahim Cogger the Testator for his last Will and Testament in
the presence of us who subscribed our names as Witnesses hereto in his
presence Ann Groves her mark Mary Wells her mark Thomas Weller. Probate Jan 1719/20
