Enlisted in the Royal Engineers 20 October 1892 (Regimental Number 3507).  Left in 1810.  Served in the Duke of Wellington's (West Riding) Regiment 1914 -1919. 
Joined the Huddersfield and District Veterans Association 10 October 1929 (Roll Number 185).  Lived at 9 Chapel Hill Huddersfield.
